Yes, at long last Kick - Ass, the action adventure cinema hit starring Chloe Moretz, Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Mark Strong, is released on DVD on the 6th September. The film, which earned a very creditable £12 million when it was released at the cinema in April, is highly entertaining but parents should be aware that it is a 15 certificate due to bad language.
Kick - Ass is by no means the only blockbuster movie to be released in September as this month sees the release of one of the biggest grossing movies of the year, namely Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. This excellent movie teams director Scott once again with Russell Crowe, star of their previous mega-hit Gladiator. With Cate Blanchett, Danny Huston and Mark Strong - yes, him again - this is by far and away the best adaptation of this classic story and we would not be at all surprised to see a sequel appear at some time in the future.
Also released in September is the excellent thriller The Ghost, adapted from the best selling novel by Robert Harris and starring Ewan McGregor as talented ghost-writer "The Ghost" and Pierce Brosnan as the British Prime Minister anxious to publish his memoirs (a timely release, this, with Tony Blair having just published his own memoirs).
Then we have the latest computer game adaptation, Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, an adventure starring Jake Ghyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton, and the thriller Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans which features a stunning performance from Nicolas Cage, a role that many think is his best since Leaving Las Vegas. Co-starring with Cage are Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes and Brad Dourif.
Another thriller released this month is the deeply disturbing The Killer Inside Me with Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson but those of a nervous disposition should be aware that this is a shockingly violent movie, as is the Samuel L Jackson and Carrie Ann Moss thriller Unthinkable. Other thrillers released this month include Cherry Tree Lane - this is a simultaneous release with the cinema - and After.Life with Christina Ricci and Liam Neeson.
Comedies are well represented by such offerings as Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey, Death At A Funeral starring Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence and Back Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez and Australian heartthrob Alex O'Loughlin.
With Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan starring in the comedy Cop Out, Jason Flemyng and Danny Dyer in the British gangster thriller Dead Cert and Miley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear in the romantic drama The Last Song there are plenty of Hollywood's finest to choose from this month.

Buying
a DVD player
Many
of you will be considering purchasing a DVD. Great idea,
as the picture and sound quality is infinitely superior to video. However,
we would caution you that not all DVD movies will play properly on a budget
priced machine (£150 or less). We would advise you to consider quality
makes such as Sony, Sanyo, JVC, etc, to get the best results from the
hundreds of titles that we have for rental.

Look
out for the spinning disk on the left which denotes that a film is also
available in DVD format. We
have the largest selection of rental DVD's anywhere in Bexhill.
Most releases are available on both DVD and video and the rental charges are the same for both formats
