After a fairly threadbare couple of months the major studios have, in their infinite wisdom, decided to swamp us with a large swathe of Autumn 2009 movies, amongst them some of the top titles of last year.
And with Valentine's Day and half term looming there is a concentration on romance and family films including the incredibly successful animated feature Up from the Disney / Pixar stable
Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart star in the rom-com Love Happens, while Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner star in Gervais's comedy The Invention Of Lying.
Moving away from the comedy selection we can offer the sci-fi thriller Surrogates which is the latest movie from Bruce Willis, plus another sci-fi title Pandorum that features Dennis Quaid. Drama Fans will thoroughly enjoy Jamie Foxx's performance in The Soloist while those who enjoy dramas about football hooligans will undoubtedly pick The Firm which stars Paul Anderson and Calum McNab.
Michael Jackson fans will be intrigued to watch the documentary This Is It, the tale of the rehearsals for the tour of the same name and a film that took nearly £10 million at the UK box-office. February also sees the release of the action thriller Ong Bak: The Beginning starring Tony Jaa, the war drama Attack On Leningrad featuring Gabriel Byrne and Mira Sorvino and horror titles Halloween 2 and Jennifer's Body
As well as Up family tiles this month include the animated feature Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Aliens In The Attic starring Ashley Tisdale and Robert Hoffman and Nine, an animated feature with Elijah Wood and Jennifer Connelly.
So, plenty for you to watch this month and don't forget our special offer for members where you can save a massive 33% discount by using your free TVC Loyalty Card and renting any two new or recent releases. This means that any of the titles mentioned above can be viewed for only £2.50 each which we believe to be a very special deal for our members.
Buying
a DVD player
Many
of you will be considering purchasing a DVD. Great idea,
as the picture and sound quality is infinitely superior to video. However,
we would caution you that not all DVD movies will play properly on a budget
priced machine (£150 or less). We would advise you to consider quality
makes such as Sony, Sanyo, JVC, etc, to get the best results from the
hundreds of titles that we have for rental.
DVD
Look
out for the spinning disk on the left which denotes that a film is also
available in DVD format. We
have the largest selection of rental DVD's anywhere in Bexhill.
Most releases are available on both DVD and video and the rental charges are the same for both formats
