Apocalypto is a stunning piece of cinema from director Mel Gibson (Passion Of The Christ) and is a brutal, bloody and extremely violent picture that holds nothing back in its portrayal of the life of tribes in the Yucatan jungle.
This is a movie about the Mayan people and a civilisation on the verge of collapse and features Rudy Youngblood (who did most of his own stunts) as a young Mayan hunter, Jaguar Paw, who lives in peace with his wife and son in the Mesoamerican rainforest.
But after an attack on his village by Holcane warriors he is dragged off to the Mayan capital from where he has to attempt to escape and return to his family.
Apocalypto is so violent that if released 20 years ago it would probably have been classed as a video nasty, so be warned!
