Director Roland Emmerich has made his name making special-effects laden blockbusters such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and Godzilla and here he repeats the trick with an epic adventure that follows a mammoth hunter named D’Leh (Steven Strait.
D’Leh puts together a group of hunters to pursue a bunch of evil warlords who raided his village and kidnapped his lady friend Evolet, played by Camilla Belle.
Along the way the intrepid band have to do battle with sabre-toothed tigers, woolly mammoths and numerous other predators and trek through jungles, climb snow-clad mountains and cross vast deserts (and still be home in time for tea!). With narration by movie legend Omar Sharif, this is an entertaining family adventure.
