Undoubtedly the best foreign language film since ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ (although obviously of a different genre) this is the most successful French film ever to be released in the UK taking a staggering £4.3m at the box office.
Described as a “fairytale for grown-ups” the film centres around the fantastical adventures of Audrey Tautou’s introverted pixie –like character and the gloriously humorous script, rich detail and beautiful settings of Monmartre make this a stunning piece of film making.
Amelie is a young waitress in Paris who one day discovers that her true vocation in life is an ability to bring others love and happiness in discreet ways. But when she falls in love herself she finds that there is no easy solution to her own problems.
